Tmeylan 07:58, 3 June 2008 (EDT) To make sure people know when events are scheduled, one method of date notation should be selected and used throughout the site. The Current Events Page uses two date notation formats, NEITHER of which conforms to common usage of mm/dd/yy(yy). People aren't going to know when to show up, and some people are going to think the dates have already passed. Since there is a large number of non-American-born people in district 4, TOP clarity for dates may be to do it the hard way, and SPELL out dates explicitly, eg. June 5, 2008. That way, whether you were raised in the US or raised in Europe where they reverse things, you still know clearly what month is meant, the number for the date becomes obvious, and using a four digit year keeps things clear for everyone. response to remarks about date formatting

Excellent point. Thanks for calling it to my attention!

The calendar application is set to operate off of a directory nomenclature, which goes from least specific to most specific (year, month, day). Yet the display noting the date is set to the European format. Let me go see if I can fix that part. Thardman 17:08, 3 June 2008 (EDT)

Okay, I have fixed it to the point where there's a note showing that says "(dates are month-day-year)" and also fixed it to where it outputs the event date in that order. Anything else is going to take me a few hours, and may be a bit beyond me for now. The code that generates the calendar is someone else's code and fairly lengthy. Should be good for now.
