Layhill

From District 4 -- Montgomery County, Maryland

Jump to: navigation, search

"Layhill" is a generic description of a swath of unincorporated Montgomery County, Maryland. Mostly it is within the area generally described as "upcounty Silver Spring". Generally it is the set of communities to either side of Layhill Road.

"Layhill" is also a place name describing the community right around the intersection of Layhill Road and Bel Pre/Bonifant Road. That intersection may also be considered as the northeast extreme of Aspen Hill, although some would suggest that the real division is Bel Pre Creek, a tributary to the Anacostia River Watershed.

Layhill may be thought to be bounded on the west by Bel Pre Creek, on the north by Argyle Country Club and the undeveloped wooded area bounding the south of Willson Hills, on the east by Northwest Branch Park, and again on the south by Bel Pre Creek. This definition will also include Layhill Village, and will exclude the Longmead Crossing community.
