Guidelines
In order to make things run smoothly, we are providing you with the format and guidelines in advance. We also ask that you arrive by 6:45 in order to have a pre-forum meeting to review our guidelines.
- Tables will be available for your campaign literature.
- Each candidate will be given one minute for an opening statement, and will be given two minutes for a closing statement.
- Each candidate will have a minute and a half per question for their response, and every candidate will answer the same questions.
- A different candidate will go first each time, so that no one has the disadvantage of always being first or last.
Because of the number of candidates, we will be strictly adhering to the time limits, and we will have a time keeper with signs facing you so you know when your time is nearly up and completely up. We want everyone to have a fair chance to speak, but we also must be out of the building by a certain time, so we will, if necessary, interrupt you if you attempt to continue beyond your time.
Note cards will be available as people enter the auditorium for submitting questions. The following criteria will be used to screen questions from the audience before giving them to the moderator:
- The issue has not yet been discussed in this forum.
- The question is clearly stated.
- The question is about an issue relevant to the County Council.
