Geography
Buckhorn Branch has natural headwaters in the vicinity of London Bridge Drive in the Longmead Crossing neighborhood, and also in the vicinity of the intersection of Marymont Road and Merrifields Drive in the Allanwood/Gayfields neighborhood, as well as smaller tributary streams in the vicinity.
After the confluence of the tributaries, Buckhorn Branch crosses under Layhill Road just south of Baughman Drive, and shortly thereafter joins with the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River.
