Burtonsville Day

Please see our announcement for Burtonsville Day, 2008. It's on September 27 all afternoon.

Welcome to our informal, unofficial District 4 Website!

We created this Wiki to improve cohesiveness, communication, and support for our neighbors within our District which comprises:

Allenwood, Ashton, Aspen Hill, Brinklow, Brighton, Burtonsville, Calverton, Cloverly, Colesville, Derwood, Fairland, Gayfields, Gaywood Estates, Glenmont, Good Hope Estates, Kemp Mill, Layhill, Norbeck, Norbeck Meadows, Norwood, Northwood, Olney, Paint Branch, Sandy Spring, Sherwood Forest, Silver Spring, Spencerville, Springbrook, Springbrook Forest, Willson Hills and White Oak.

We welcome your concerns, ideas, suggestions, and comments on how we can work together to improve our communities, fostering a greater sense of neighborliness and community activism. We believe that by supporting and listening to each other, we can work more effectively for the change we need in the county and state. We need many hands to make light work, and many voices to be heard.

We have reserved a spot for input from Councilman Praisner and his office.

In the mid-county, we have the beginnings of a new program, Creating Opportunities for Youth. This will primarily concern the "Kennedy Cluster" of schools in the general area of Aspen Hill, Glenmont, and "north Wheaton".

Meeting Schedule - Monthly

We will hold a monthly meeting on the 1st Thursday of each month, from 7:30-8:30, at a different location each month. All areas in District 4 will have an opportunity to have a meeting convenient to their residents.

First Meeting

Our first meeting on June 5th went well. We had one or two "drop in" attendees and were also visited by representatives from the Northwood-Four Corners Civic Association. We will soon post a summary of the event. Regrettably, Councilman Praisner or his staff were unable to attend.

We may or may not have any meetings over the summer, but we hope to roll into the fall. As the weather cools down, and the new Council and fiscal season begins, we hope to have increased participation. We'll be reaching out to all of the civic associations.

Anyone can request a meeting in their area, and we will work together to find a location. Please call 301-384-8888 or 301-871-0928 for more information!
